Sutton Bridge Cinema
When I was preparing for retirement a few, well a lot actually, of years ago I had the bright idea of collecting as many top rated movies on DVD that I could afford, and when the fateful day actually arrived, then at least I would have somethin to watch when there was nothing to do!
That was the theory, but in practice it never happened and I ended up with over 800 films that were filling the shelves and never being watched! The idea of setting up a cinema soon occured to me and then by fate I suppose, I lost my partner Ronnie. That event spurred me on so I contacted the Curlew Community Centre with the idea of setting up the cinema that we now have.
There were some technical problems which had to be overcome, but with the excellent help of chairman Neil Wright, Vice chairman Mark Everitt and the rest of the management committee of the Curlew Centre, we set out to complete the task in hand in memory of Ronnie.
During the summer of 2022 all the equipment was installed - Electric screen, Projector, Amplifier set with 3 DVD players and also a public address (microphone) system. Eventually it was all tested and retested and now we are proud to say we have a system that really is good to enjoy.
We only show the top 4 or 5 star rated films or something that is quite unique from our country's point of view. In 2022 we showed the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and this year 2023, we will be showing the Coronation of King Charles III on Saturday May 6th and on the following day Sunday 7th we will be showing the Royal Concert from Windsor Castle. All Live and All FREE
We offer a wonderful catering service to all visitors to the cinema including teas, coffees of several types, cakes, crisps and biscuits and on course Butterkisk Popcorn
