Bread & Butter Pudding

This is a real family favourite from days gone past. \this recipe will serve 4 but if they're really hungry you might need to make two thay're so delicious!

You Will Need

1 Litre (2 pint oven proof dish

6 thin slices of white bread (crusts removed)

50g (2 oz) English butter

50g (2oz currants or sultanas)

40g (1.5 oz) castor sugar

568m; (1 pint) milk

Thickly spread bread slices with butter

Cut into fingers or small squares. Put half into a 1 Litre buttered ovenproof dish. Sprinkle with all of the fruit and half the sugar.

Top with the remaining bread, buttered side uppetrmost. Sprinkle with the rest of the sugar.

Beat the eggs and milk well together. Strain into dish over bread

Leave to stand for 30 minutes so that the bread absorbs some of the liquid.

Bake in the oven at 160oC (325oF) mark 3 for 4r5 minutes - 1 hour until set and the top is crisp and golden
